Cardinals outlast NLS in Bremer final

WILLMAR _ The Willmar Cardinals got 24 points from Jordan Smith and 20 more from Isaiah Streed to trip New London-Spicer 70-65 in the conclusion of the Bremer Bank Classic on Saturday evening.

The Cardinals (6-2) had to overcome an early 11 point deficit and the explosive scoring of Wildcats' senior guard Jay Moten, who tossed in 31 points fueled by six 3-point makes. Behind him, the Wildcats (5-3) had a balanced attack led by Aaron Johnson and Sam Schmid with eight points each.

In the third-place game, Benson (2-4) nailed New Ulm (0-5) by a 67-53 score with Aaron Lindahl attacking the basket for 30 points.
