WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals whipped Hutchinson 8-0 on Monday and will advance to the boys 2A Section quarterfinals on Thursday.
No. 5 seed Willmar (12-3-2) must travel to No. 4 Worthington (10-3-1), which flushed Marshall 7-1.
Tim Rogers plunked the first goal in the second minute to start a 7-goal first-half landslide.
The outcome was hardly surprising. The Cardinals whacked the Tigers 9-1 on Sept. 10. The Tigers finish the season 3-12-1.
Cesar Jimenez scored back-to-back two minutes apart, Graham Dahl made it 4-0 from out front and Juan Gomez buried a 30-yarder to the far corner tucking the ball just below the cross bar.
"That was a fantastic shot," said Willmar coach Jeff Winter. "He's made that shot several times this year."
Jimenez's now has 19 goals. His 17 markers in the regular season was second most of any player in the Central Lakes Conference. He also got his 10th assist Monday.
Jose Hernandez also scored twice and Handerson Tevalan notched a goal and an assist.
Charlie Trochlil made five stops for the shutout, including rejecting a Tigers' penalty shot in the third minute of the second half.
Starting goalie Joaquin Espinoza remains sidelined. Though he has no symptoms, Winter said that the freshman failed his third concussion test since an injury Sept. 26 vs. Alexandria.
The Worthington/Willmar winners would most likely end up playing at No. 1 Fairmont in the semifinals.
