Carol P. Anderson, age 85, of Spicer died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Her memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Monday, July 28, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org
Carol Pernelle Anderson was born on April 27, 1929 in Willmar, the daughter of Albin and Julia (Hanson) Mickelson. She grew up in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in the class of 1947. She continued her education at Augsburg College for two years.
Carol was united in marriage to John Burton Anderson on October 15, 1949 in Willmar. Carol and Burt lived in Willmar where she was employed with various bookkeeping jobs. She purchased and operated the Crest Shop in downtown Willmar for over 10 years. Carol retired from her career and the couple moved to the Spicer area. She kept active as a volunteer Grandma for the New London-Spicer Kindergarten Classes for many years. Burt passed away on March 18, 2006. Carol later moved to Hector and was cared for by her daughter.
Carol was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer where she was active with womens circle, and sang in the choir.
Carol enjoyed reading, boat rides and playing games like Yahtzee and Solitaire. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer (and Dennis) Peterson of Hector; three grandchildren: Jon (and Jessica) Peterson of Alvord, IA, Derek Peterson of Hutchinson, Arika (and Allen) Watkins of Hector; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob, Connor, Judson, Ashley, Jaxon, Breah, Jayen; brother-in-law, Eugene C. (and Grace) Anderson of Tacoma, WA; and several other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Burt, Carol was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, two brothers: Curtis and Burton Mickelson and three grandchildren.
