Carol Peterson April 23, 1938 - March 25, 2009
BROOTEN -- Carol Peterson, 70, of Brooten died Wednesday at Redeemer Health and Rehab Center in Minneapolis.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran East Cemetery in Belgrade.
Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade.
He was born April 23, 1938, on the family farm in Norway Lake Township, Kandiyohi County, to Alfred and Verna (Sorenson) Peterson. The family later moved to a farm near New London where Carol attended New London High School and graduated in 1956. He entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and served his country during the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He married Jean Glauvitz in December 1965 in Belgrade. They were stationed in Germany, Ft. Ord, Calif., and Ft. Knox, Ky. He retired from the service in 1981 and they moved back to Brooten where he worked for Crow River Industries for more than 20 years. Jean died July 29.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Belgrade VFW.
He is survived by sons: Steve (and Debi) Peterson of Minneapolis, Todd Peterson of Minneapolis and Jonathan Peterson of Brooten; two grandchildren; and siblings: Charlotte (and Dave) Andreen of Kasson and Arnold (and Kathy) Peterson of Sunburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
