Cecelia Frances Honzay was born May 8, 1930 on the family farm at rural Bird Island to John and Phoebe (Brtek) Lingl. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1948 and then helped her parents on the farm. Cecelia was united in marriage to George Honzay at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island and they were blessed with five children. They made their home and farmed at rural Olivia for several years and then in December of 1959 moved to their farm south of Bird Island. George and Cecelia moved into Bird Island in 1985 and he retired in 1988. George died in 1993, and Cecelia has maintained her own home ever since. She had been a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the CCW, and was a Eucharistic Minister for the sick. Cecelia had a tremendous devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She had enjoyed gardening, reading, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and making rosaries. Cecelia was a terrific organizer of family outings and still had an interest in her sons' farming operation. Her family fondly remembers Cecelia's knack of remembering everybody's birthday and love for her grandchildren.

Cecelia is survived by her five children: Chuck (and his wife Chris) Honzay of Bird Island, Tom (and his wife Sharon) Honzay of Bird Island, George (and his wife Robin) Honzay of Park Rapids, Patricia Honzay (and her husband Larry Christiansen) of Gilbert, AZ, and Judy (and her husband Mike) Jacobs of Olivia; her nine grandchildren: Rachael (and Michael) Uher, Philip Honzay (and fiancé Ping), Andrew Honzay (and special friend Erica), Jennifer (and Brandon) Abrahamson, Matthew Honzay (and special friend Amara), Eric (and Amy) Honzay, Dan (and Julie) Honzay, Kristina (and Chad) Case, and Ken Honzay (and special friend Brandi); her 13 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren. Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and her sister Margaret Lingl.
