Charges being filed in attack at Wheaton church
WHEATON, Minn. (AP) -- Two men are being charged in a baseball bat attack at a western Minnesota church that left a 14-month-old girl dead.
Darryl Kennedy and David Collins were arrested last week after the incident inside Thy Kingdom Come Church in Wheaton.
Prosecutors on Tuesday are charging Collins with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of second-degree assault. Kennedy is being charged with one count of second-degree assault. They're making their first court appearances around 11 a.m.
Authorities say Collins tried to attack Claude Hankins with a bat. But the bat hit Hankins' daughter Aundrea, who died a few hours later.
The church's pastor has said Collins was upset with him for giving a washer and dryer to Hankins instead of to him.
