Charles Brown Dec. 26, 1933 - Jan. 15, 2009
HOLLOWAY -- Charles Richard Brown, 75, of Holloway, died Thursday at Appleton Area Health Services after saving the lives of his special needs son, Curtis, and his companion, Marge Robinson in a house fire.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church in Appleton. Burial will be in the Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton and for one hour prior to services at the church.
He was born Dec. 26, 1933, in Omaha, Neb., to Jess and Mary (Maggart) Brown. He was a franchise owner of a Mr. Donut bakery for more than 30 years and also worked at the Milan Museum. He never retired and served as the caregiver for his son. He was a member of the Masons and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his children: Charlene (and David) Stockton of Tennessee, Deb Jones of Holloway, John (and Roma) Brown of Missouri, Charles Marley of Texas, Dennis Brown of Texas, Curtis Brown of Holloway, Michael Brown of Florida and Brandon Brown of Florida; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; his companion: Marge Robinson of Holloway; and three sisters: Jessie Toomey of Illinois, Gladys May of Texas, and Earlene Stulgis of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepparents: Margie Fuchs and Earl Marley; one son: Richard Brown; and one sister.
