COSMOS -- Charles Herbert Sharpe, 84, of Cosmos, died Sunday at Bethesda Heritage Nursing Home in Willmar.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Burial is in Tromso Cemetery, rural Lake Lillian.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today at K-M Funeral Home in Lake Lillian and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
He was born Aug. 14, 1924, near St. James to David and Alice (Anderson) Sharpe. He grew up on a farm east of Lake Lillian and graduated from Bird Island High School.
He drove truck for several local operations and then in 1960 became an over-the-road owner/operator, delivering fresh meat to the East Coast and later dry freight in the five-state region. He retired in 1985 and had received an award for 20 years of accident-free driving.
He married Eris Larson on Aug. 24, 1945. They lived in Lake Lillian for the first few years before moving to Cosmos.
He is survived by his children: Larry (and Rhonda) Sharpe of Minnetonka, Jerrel (and Reyna) Sharpe of Burnsville and Martha (and Paul) Pederson of Apple Valley; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son: David; two sisters; and three brothers.
