PAYNESVILLE --Charles Michael "Charlie" Schleper, 75, of Paynesville, died Sunday at Paynesville Area Hospital.
The service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. Entombment will be in the St. Louis Parish Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service and one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Paynesville to Gerhard and Catherine (Jaeger) Schleper. He grew up on the family farm near Paynesville and graduated from Paynesville High School in 1950. After his schooling, he worked for Northern States Power until 1955 when he entered the U.S. Army and seerved for two years.
He married Eileen Ann Spanier on Oct. 8, 1960, in Lake Henry. They lived in Mankato and various communities in the five-state area while he worked for NSP. They returned to Paynesville in 1965 where they farmed until 1990. While in retirement, he continued to work at American Milk Producers, Inc. and at his daughter's daycare.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.
He is survived by his children: Roxy Moser, Pat (and Brenda) Schleper, Dean (and Kerry) Schleper, Doug (and Jill) Schleper, Lee Schleper, Terri (and Kirk) Athmann of all Paynesville and Peg (and Greg) Stang of Rockville; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters; Adeline (Pete) Holper of Paynesville and Mary Hagen of Lino Lakes.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and a son-in-law: Joe Moser.
