DONNELLY -- Charles William Bergstrom, 55, of Donnelly, died Monday at his home.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Kongsvinger Lutheran Church, rural Donnelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Morris American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and AmVets.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

He was born Feb. 4, 1953, in Alexandria to Robert and Audrey (Fraser) Bergstrom. He started school in Kerkhoven and then the family moved to Benson, where he graduated from Benson High School. He worked on a turkey farm in Willmar. In 1971, he enlisted in the United States National Guard and United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., and Kirsch Goens, Germany.

He married Rebecca Strand on April 21, 1973, in rural Donnelly. After his military discharge in 1977, they moved back to Donnelly and he worked for Elmer's Distributing for 10 years. When he began having health problems, he enrolled in the dietary manager and computer programming classes at Alexandria Technical School. He then worked in Brooklyn Park for a short while. He worked for the city of Donnelly in water and sewer maintenance for a couple years, before he had a stroke and was forced to retire.

He was a member of Kongsvinger Lutheran Church in Donnelly, where he served as an usher, and he served with Donnelly Fire and Rescue.

He is survived by his wife: Becky Bergstrom of Donnelly; four daughters: Nicole (and Jeremyah) Wittern of Eagan, Jessica Bergstrom of Donnelly, Andrea Bergstrom of Donnelly and Samantha Bergstrom of Hastings; one granddaughter; one sister: Deborah Bergstrom of Dickinson, N.D.; and one brother: Richard Bergstrom of Seattle.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
