Chester Branch Jan. 7, 1920 - June 9, 2009

STARBUCK -- Chester Arthur Branch, 89, of Starbuck died Tuesday at home.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ben Wade Covenant Church in Lowry. Burial will in Bethany Bethesda Cemetery in rural Starbuck.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Starbuck Funeral Home and for one hour prior to services at the church.

He was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Blue Mounds Township, Pope County, to Albert and Edith (Ekstrom) Branch. He grew up in rural Starbuck and attended School District 36.

He married Evelyn Grenson on Oct. 26, 1945, in Starbuck. He was a farmer his entire life, farming the land where he was born and raised. He served more than 40 years as supervisor on the Blue Mounds Town Board. He also served on the District 36 School Board. He was a member of the Central Minnesota Draft Horse Association; the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation and the Haflinger Registry. For several years, he took his team and wagon to local parades and gave rides to children.

He is survived by his wife; children: Denice (and David) Velde of Glenwood and Ron (and Ann) Branch of Alexandria; four grandsons; three great-grandchildren; brothers: Elvin (and Clara Mae) of Ashland, Wis., and Herbert (and Marcy) of Minnetonka.

He was preceded in death by his son: Charles in 1968; and three brothers.
