Chicken pox outbreak reported at Yellow Medicine East

The Minnesota Department of Health, Countryside Public Health and Yellow Medicine East School District are investigating an outbreak of chicken pox in the school district.

Since May 13, about 25 cases have been reported to school nursing staff and the state Health Department.

Officials said today they don't think there's cause for heightened concern. Letters have been sent out to the entire school district, notifying people of the outbreak and outlining steps they can take to prevent getting chicken pox and minimizing its spread.
