MONTEVIDEO -- The main runway at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Airport will be reconstructed.
Montevideo City Council members at their meeting Monday approved the low bid of $1,596,258.61 by Duininck Inc., of Prinsburg, for the project. The Chippewa County Board approved awarding the bid at its meeting Tuesday, according to Montevideo City Manager Steve Jones.
The bid is below the $1,824,250 engineering estimate for the project.
Four firms offered bids, ranging from the awarded bid to $2.1 million. The project could require closing the runway for 60 days.
