Chuck Ericson, 82, of Willmar, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. His funeral service will be 11:00 am, Monday, April 21st at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar (

Chuck was born on March 21, 1932, in Hector, Minnesota, the son of Harold and Ella Louise (Benson) Ericson. His childhood years were spent in various states, but summers were typically spent at Eagle Lake where his Grandparents had one of the first cabins. He graduated from High School in Grand Junction, Iowa in 1950. He graduated from Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa in 1963, interrupted by 4 years of service in the Naval Air Force and then a return to Hector to work with the Hector Telephone Company which his great grandfather helped to organize.

On May 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Rosella Namer of Mallard, Iowa. Following their marriage, they settled on Eagle Lake near Willmar. In 1968, he purchased Snell Construction and for the next 18 years Chuck and his company buried utility cable in 36 states until the company was sold. He continued to work with the business until his retirement in 1990.

Chuck was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church and several organizations, including the Owls, Elks, American Legion, VFW, and had been the chairman of the Eagle Lake Sewer Board for 20 years. Chuck loved being with people and enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting, snowmobiling, boating and family time at Lake of the Woods. In recent years, he appreciated the people and activities at the YMCA.

Surviving are his wife, Rosie; children, Stephanie (and Chuck) Gibson of Napa, CA; Melanie (and Rick) Thompson of Cold Spring; Angela (and Todd) Webb of Grand Rapids, MN; Wade (and Jennifer) Ericson of Jacobson, MN; seven grandchildren: Eric and Christopher Gibson, Mitchell and Derek Thompson, Daniel and Jack Webb, Emily Ericson; and great grandson, Sterling Gibson; and brother, Rolfe (and Nancy) Ericson of Lake George, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James.
