Clarence J. Lieser June 28, 1919 - Sept. 24, 2013

FERGUS FALLS - Clarence J. Lieser, 94 of Fergus Falls, formerly of Belgrade, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Belgrade. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. at the church where visitation will follow until time of the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade.


Clarence James Lieser was born June 28, 1919 in Spring Hill township, the son of Leonard and Alvina (Wuertz) Lieser. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII in the Leyte invasion of the Phillippines and the Island of Okinawa.

Clarence married Luella Stang on September 15, 1948 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Belgrade. Over the years, He worked at the Cenex Service Station and the Stearns County Highway Dept. He also did custodial work for the Johnson Funeral Home. Clarence enjoyed spending time in his garden and took great pride in keeping his home and lawn neat and trim. He also loved spending time with his family and spent the last five years living in Fergus Falls to be closer to them. His time spent at the MN Veterans Home was a truly wonderful experience for him, making new friends with his charming smile and twinkle in his eyes. He had an infectious laugh that had everyone laughing with him. He was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Parish and the VFW.

Clarence is survived by his son Mike (Marcia) of Fergus Falls, grandsons Jake of Moorhead and Greg of Fargo, great-granddaughter, Madeline of Fargo; siblings, Lorraine Mohs of St. Cloud, Rita Jaeger of Lake Henry, Jerome (Clara) Lieser of Paynesville, Florence (Alvin) Zirbes of Brooklyn Center, Larry (Sue) Lieser of Sauk Rapids, and George (Becky) Lieser of Ham Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Luella; twin brother Alcuin Lieser; brothers: John Lieser and Celestine Lieser; sisters, Rose Kreger, Evelyn McAndrew, Viola Paasche, and Luella Taylor.
