Clarence Swart Nov. 13, 1923 - Aug. 27, 2009
PRINSBURG -- Clarence Swart, 85, of Prinsburg, died Thursday at the Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg. Burial will be in Holland Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg and for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
He was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Holland Township, Kandiyohi County, to Minard and Minnie (Visser) Swart. He grew up in the rural Prinsburg area and attended rural school through eighth grade. He farmed with his dad in Crooks Township in Renville County.
He married Katie Van Hove on April 3, 1946, in rural Bunde. They lived on his family's farm until 1958 when they moved to Holland Township and continued farming. In 1980, they moved to Prinsburg, and he continued to work at the farm until last fall.
He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Prinsburg where he served as a deacon, funeral usher and attended Men's Bible Study.
He is survived by his wife; two sons: Dennis (and Joann) Swart of Prinsburg and Larry (and Karla) Swart of Prinsburg; two daughters: Janice (and Warren) Damhof of Prinsburg and Joyce (and Eugene) Schwitters of Clara City; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister: Marion (and Darrel) Tinklenberg of Pipestone.
He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, two brothers and two sisters.
