Clarence T. 'Boots' Sjogren July 4, 1913 - March 30, 2009

HECTOR -- Clarence Theodore "Boots" Sjogren, 95, of Hector, died Monday at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Hector. Burial in the Hector City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hughes Funeral Home in Hector, and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born July 4, 1913, in Hector Township, Renville County, to August and Anna (Jensen) Sjogren. He grew up in the Hector area and graduated from Hector High School in 1930.

He married Helen Rockeman on Nov. 10, 1939, in Hector. They lived and farmed in Brookfield Township, Renville County. He served on several agricultural boards, including the Minnesota Valley Breeders Association and the Dairy Herd Improvement Association. He was also a 4-H leader. They moved into Hector when he retired and then to an apartment at Prairie View when it opened. They wintered in Arizona for 23 years. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Hector and served in various positions at the church.

He is survived by his wife; sons: Steven (and Louise) Sjogren of Hector, David Sjogren of St. Paul, and Dennis Sjogren of St. Cloud; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
