MAYNARD -- Cleo Marvilla Schaller, 96, of Montevideo, formerly of Maynard, died Thursday at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
The service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Maynard Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Leenthrop Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is handling arrangements.
She was born June 9, 1912, in Linn Grove, Iowa, to John and Mabel (Jeppeson) Evans. They moved to a farm north of Maynard when she was 5 years old. She attended school in District 32 and graduated from Maynard High School in 1929. She attended St. Cloud Teachers College and taught school in several rural districts.
She married Roy Schaller on July 12, 1936. They lived in Browns Valley for a year before returning to farm near Maynard. They retired from farming in 1980 and built a home in Maynard. She had been a resident of Luther Haven Nursing Home since 2005.
She was a member of the Maynard Baptist Church and its mission circle and pioneer girls, the Maynard Garden Club, homemakers and birthday groups and was a 4-H leader.
She is survived by two children: Gary (and Beverly) Schaller of Maynard and Diane (and Greg) Ostergren of Springfield, Mo.; a daughter-in-law: Denis Schaller of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and sisters: Ardis Sanner and Beverly (and Walter) Ashmore of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; one son: Duane; and one sister.
