WILLMAR -- Jacob Seth Cobb, 18, made his first appearance Tuesday in Kandiyohi County District Court on a misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charge for allegedly fighting with another inmate April 10 in the Kandiyohi County Jail.

Cobb and his two brothers, Dylan Clemens and Andrew Cobb, are charged for their roles in the December 2010 murder of their mother, 50-year-old Tamara Lee Mason.

Clemens, 25, and Andrew Cobb, 19, have both pleaded guilty to felony charges of being an accessory after the fact to murder. Sentencing dates have not been set in their cases.

Jacob Cobb was certified as an adult in the case and has pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree murder. His jury trial is scheduled to begin Aug. 13 in Stevens County District Court.

According to the Kandiyohi County Jail website, Jacob Cobb has been an inmate since his adult certification in November 2011.

According to the complaint in the assault case, Cobb and Dimas Maldonado, 22, of Willmar, allegedly fought with each other after Maldonado threw a glass of water on Cobb. Maldonado also faces a misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charge in the case.
