Cokato, Minn., man arrested in multiple thefts in Meeker, Wright counties, investigation continues

A 19-year-old Cokato man has been arrested in connection with multiple reports of thefts from vehicles in Darwin and Dassel in mid-April.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office received reports on April 14 of more than a dozen thefts of CDs, CD players, fishing rods, tackle boxes, tools and keys, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.

Meeker County investigators found some of the stolen items at pawn shops in the St. Cloud area and worked with the Wright County Sheriff's Office, where similar thefts had taken place.

Cody Todd Welte, 19, of Cokato was arrested in connection with the thefts, and on May 3, he admitted to being involved in the thefts in Dassel and Darwin, according to the release.

Welte is being held at the Wright County Jail pending formal charges.

Additional stolen property is still being discovered, and the investigation is still ongoing, according to the release.
