College baseball: Stingers players in Baseball America’s Top 25 D-I teams

Baseball America’s preseason Top 25 rankings of Division I schools included two teams featuring current and former Willmar Stingers players. Kentucky, ranked No. 11, has catcher Greg Fettes and third baseman Max Kuhn in the projected starting lineup. Fettes played in nine games for the Stingers as a temp player in 2012, while Kuhn was a steady presence in the lineup at multiple infield positions for the entire season. Kuhn will return to Willmar for 2013, and Baseball America noted that he is a “breakout candidate” for this season.
San Diego squeaked into the rankings at No. 25 and has 2012 Stinger Dillon Haupt as the projected starting catcher. Baseball America said Haupt is a “grinder with a steady bat” and will “bring occasional righthanded juice.”
