WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater men's basketball team played a solid game but couldn't overcome the quickness and talent Dakota County Technical College brought to town Wednesday night.

DCTC sprinted away from the Warriors early in the second half, turning a seven point halftime lead into a 20-point advantage and, eventually, a 62-46 victory.

Ridgewater fell to 6-12 overall, but head coach Bob Knutson said he was proud of his team's effort.

"(DCTC) are great athletes and we couldn't match up with them that way," Knutson said. "But we matched up with them in heart. They were so quick and we had some breakdowns, but, by and large, I'm really proud of how hard our kids played."

DCTC's Kevin Thompson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Clifford Johnson scored 10 points and had 5 assists and 5 steals.

Ridgewater's Tyler Pendleton hit five 3-point shots and finished with 15 points. The Warriors' Cody Warner added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Warriors play next against Anoka Ramsey at 3 p.m. Saturday in Willmar, following the 1 p.m. Ridgewater women's team's game against A-R.
