College football: St. John's LB Dammermann to play game in Mexico

St. John’s University senior linebacker and 2009 New London-Spicer graduate Taylor Dammermann was selected to play for the USA All-American Eagles in the 2012 Aztec Bowl.
The game showcases senior talents from Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS, formerly Division I-AA), Division II, Division III and the NAIA. The squad will face a Mexican National team comprised of students from multiple Mexican universities on Friday at Call Volcano Stadium in Monterrey Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Dammermann ended the regular season second in the MIAC with 108 tackles (49 solo) and tallied 10 or more tackles in five games to earn All-MIAC honorable mention recognition. He tied a school record with 21 tackles (eight solo) at Concordia-Moorhead Sept. 22 and made 19 stops (seven solo) in the season finale Nov. 10 at Bethel. He ended his career with 167 tackles (77 solo).
