College Softball: Ridgewater sweep extends win streak to 10 straight

WORTHINGTON -- Ridgewater needed extra innings to keep its winning streak alive as the Lady Warriors swept another doubleheader from a MCAC Southern Division foe Friday.

Emily Roelike highlighted the Lady Warriors' 5-1 win in the opener against Minnesota West with a two-run homer before driving in the winning run in the 11th inning with a single in the nightcap that allowed Ridgewater to collect a 4-3 win.

After losing their final three games in Florida in early March, the Lady Warriors have now won 10 straight to improve their record to 6-0 in the division and 12-3 overall.

Game One

Ridgewater 5, Minnesota West 1

Ridgewater scored all of its runs before Minnesota West plated an unearned run in the sixth. Kristin Kahle fanned four and surrendered seven hits in her complete-game win.

Roelike capped the scoring for Ridgewater with her homer in the sixth. The freshman from Belgrade also scored on a wild pitch in the third, while Jodi Merritt singled in a run in the second and Molly Anderson doubled in Ridgewater's run in the fourth.

Game Two

Ridgewater 4, Minnesota West 3

Steph Rhea slugged a double with two out in the fourth inning to drive in Sara Beyer and Jodi Merritt and put the Lady Warriors ahead 3-2. The Bluejays forced extra innings by scoring in the seventh.

Roelike broke a six-inning scoring drought by knocking in Beyer with a single in the 11th. Beyer was hit by a pitch leading off the inning and moved to third on Rhea's second double of the game.

Merritt spun all 11 innings to earn the win, striking out seven and scattering six hits and four walks.
