CLOQUET -- The Ridgewater College softball team ran its winning streak to 13 games after winning four games over the weekend at a MCAC crossover tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The Warriors, now 26-9, defeated Central Lakes 11-3 and Mesabi Range 18-4 on Sunday. On Saturday, Ridgewater defeated Fond du Lac 9-0, then downed Rainy River 12-5.

The Warriors scored 50 runs on 57 hits in the four games, while they allowed just 12 runs, 19 hits and committed just eight errors during the blustery weekend tournament.

"We hit the ball a ton," said Warriors head coach Todd Thorstad. "We're playing pretty well offensively, defensively, in all aspects."

The Warriors lead the MCAC Southern Division with a 15-3 record. Ridgewater plays Minnesota West in a doubleheader on Friday. If the Warriors win of those two games, or if Rochester loses one of its two games on Saturday, Ridgewater will be host to the Region 13A playoffs on May 10-11.

Sunday's Game One

Kari Shipman and Samantha Cunningham both hit home runs and Datriana Jensen drove in three runs in the Warriors' victory.

Cunningham drove in four runs and Shipman also had a double and drove in two runs.
