College Swimming: Tinklenberg Gusties' is athlete of month

Gustavus Adolphus swimmer Alissa Tinklenberg, who won 15 of the 16 events she swam in January, has been named Female Student-Athlete of the Month, by the college's sports information office.

The sophomore from Willmar was unbeaten in individual events at two MIAC dual meets and two invites. The non-win was a relay second place.

"Alissa's has had a phenomenal season up to this point," head coach Jon Carlson said. "She's an incredible competitor and one of the best closers in races that I've ever coached.

"Alissa came into this season with a completely different attitude. She found her love for swimming and competing."
