College Volleyball: Ridgewater drubs Fergus

WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater volleyball maintained its grip on first place in the MCAC South Division with a four-game win over Fergus Falls on Wednesday.

The Warriors lost the second set but still won convincingly, 25-16, 18-25, 25-13 and 25-19.

"Despite dropping the second set, I was pleased with our performance overall," said head coach Joe Sussenguth. "We've made improvements offensively and defensively and they are visible."

Alex Horton and Kelsey Stommes were dominate at the net, with Stommes finishing with 12 kills and 4 ace blocks and Horton kicking in 14 kills and 3 blocks. Stommes also served 5 aces.

Kelci Viesselman had 7 kills and Brittany Nissen had 6 kills, and Tiffani Karbo continued her strong freshman season with 33 set assists, 2 ace serves and 2 kills.

The Warriors play in the North Dakota State College of Science tournament this weekend, opening with games against Dawson Community College and Bismarck State on Friday. On Saturday, they play Williston State and Lake Region.
