College Wrestling: Ridgewater 3-0 at own invitational

WILLMAR -- The Ridgewater wrestling team won three matches at its Ridgewater Duals meet Friday.

The Warriors beat MCAC foe Itasca 37-9 in the first round, outlasted Minot (N.D.) State 27-19 in the second round and toppled the Saint John's JV squad 37-7 in their final dual of the night.

The Warriors don't return to action until Jan. 8 when they host an invitational at 10 a.m.

Ridgewater won the first five matches, including the first three by fall, to take a commanding 27-0 lead.

Aaron Samuelson's 5-2 decision at 197 pounds sealed the victory for the Warriors. It gave Ridgewater a 21-19 lead heading into the final match, which the Warriors' Derek Carlson won by forfeit.
