Unbeaten and top-seeded Ed Ruth of Penn State edged Steinhaus 5-3 in the title bout. Ruth was last year’s 174-pound Big Ten champion.

Steinhaus, the No. 2-seed, won 3 matches Saturday to reach Sunday’s final. He scored technical falls against Jake Berkowitz of Northwestern and Luke Sheridan of Indiana before winning a 10-2 major decision in the semifinals over Josh Ihnen of Nebraska.

Penn State claimed its third straight conference title and the Gophers finished second.
