College wrestling: Van Heuveln places first at Ridgewater Open

WILLMAR — Ridgewater wrestler Klinton Van Heuveln recorded three pins and a tech fall to place first at 141 pounds in the Ridgewater Open on Saturday.
Van Heuveln won by tech fall over unattached wrestler Charlie Wilczek, then pinned Dylan Wright of St. Cloud State, Cody Reed of Southwest Minnesota State and Grant Kyllo of Rochester to claim the championship.
Trevor Mahlum won two matches to place second at 174 pounds. Mahlum fell to St. Cloud State’s Clayton Jennissen 4-2 in the championship match.
Tyrell Martin won four of five matches to place third at 165 pounds and Zane Peterson won three matches to place third at 285 pounds.
Alex Thurber won two matches and placed fourth at 197 pounds and Ruben Bermudez won two matches and placed fifth at 133 pounds.
Brady Thisius won twice and placed sixth at 184 pounds and Jesse Engler was sixth at 157 pounds.
