The top 8 wrestlers in each weight division are given All-America honors. One more win each in the consolation bracket would have ensured Van Heuveln and Fessenmaier All-America status.

Booshu, from Nome Alaska, was edged 2-1 by Triton's Jose Torres after receiving at first-round bye. Booshu responded by earning a 9-4 decision over Zach Hummel of Harper College and a 20-13 decision over Aaron Smith of Mercyhurst North East to reach the fourth round of consolations. Marco Tamayo of Colby CC then edged Booshu 4-2 to secure All-America honors by reaching the 7th-place match.

Van Heulven, from Kerkhoven, had a first-round bye before losing a 15-5 major decision to Lincoln College's Mark Marianovich, who later reached the championship semifinals. Van Heuveln then notched pins in his next two matches to reach the fourth round of the consolation bracket where he lost a tough 2-1 decision to Nick Bendon of Southwestern Oregon. A win against Bendon would have put Van Heuveln in the 7th-place match.

Fessenmaier, from St. Cloud, was pinned early in the second period by Eric Telford of Muskegon College in his first-round match to fall into the consolation bracket. After receiving a bye in the first round of consolations, Fessenmaier earned a 5-2 decision over Nick Schmidt of Highline CC and a 6-2 decision over Frank Sterlace of Jamestown CC. Fessenmaier then just missed out of reaching the 7th-place match when he was outlasted 3-1 by Mike Togher of Lincoln College.

Trevor Mahlum, Van Heuveln's teammate at Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, was the only other Warrior to win a match Friday. Mahlum won his first consolation match at 174 by an 8-2 decision before falling 2-1.
