MASON CITY -- Nine Ridgewater wrestlers qualified for the NJCAA national tournament at the Region XIII qualifying tournament on Saturday.

The Warriors' Klinton Van Heuveln placed second at 149 pounds, and Lonny Booshu at 125 pounds, Mariano Portillo at 141, Shane Fessenmaier at 157 and Tyrell Martin at 165 all placed third. Trevor Mahlum finished fourth at 174 pounds and Charlie Gelhaye placed fifth at 285.

All seven of those wrestlers automatically qualify for the national meet, and Javior Portillo at 133 pounds and Kevin Hahn at 184 pounds both qualified as wild card selections.

Ridgewater placed fourth overall among the nine teams wrestling in the Minnesota Region XIII and Iowa Region XI combined tournament.

The national tournament is Feb. 24-25 at the URC Regional Sports Center in Rochester, Minn.
