Community meetings begin next week on Paynesville, Minn. by-pass project
WILLMAR - Starting next week, the public is invited to attend biweekly informational meetings to hear updates on the Paynesville bypass project.
The meetings, which begin April 19, will be held at 1 p.m. at the Paynesville American Legion, 770 W. Highway 23 in Paynesville.
Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and KGM Contractors Inc. will provide a progress report and plans for upcoming construction activities. They will also address questions or concerns about the project.
The 7.5-mile, four-lane divided bypass project is located north of New London from Kandiyohi County Road 6 to west of 263rd Avenue in Paynesville.
Work includes grading, paving, constructing eight bridges and lighting.
The project will improve mobility and safety for motorists traveling along the Highway 23 corridor and allows Highway 23 to remain an important connection between Willmar and St. Cloud, according to MnDOT.
