Consultant to give report on accident-prone intersection
WILLMAR -- A consultant for the Minnesota Department of Transportation will present a list of recommendations for improving the safety of a hazardous intersection in Willmar.
The consultant firm of CH2M Hill will offer its recommendations for improving the intersection of North Business 71 and 23rd Street in Willmar during a presentation Thursday at the Willmar City Council Chambers. The report will start at 5 p.m.
According to a MnDOT news release, CH2M Hill was hired in August by the City of Willmar, Kandiyohi County, and MnDOT. The consultant evaluated nine alternatives for the intersection that has produced numerous vehicle accidents. The intersection is located west of the Kandiyohi County Health and Human Services Building and the county law enforcement center.
In May, new stop and yield signs equipped with flashing LED lights were installed for the eastbound and westbound traffic at the intersection.
