Conway, Deuth & Schmiesing in Willmar announces three promotions

WILLMAR — The partners at Conway, Deuth & Schmiesing (CDS) in Willmar announce three staff promotions.

Jeffrey M. Rislov, certified public accountant, has been promoted to manager. Rislov has been instrumental in leading and developing the firm’s tax preparation and planning practice through his work with the firm’s tax software program and the development of his skill set related to income tax preparation and research.

Rislov joined CDS in 2005 after graduating from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, with a bachelor of accountancy degree. He earned his CPA designation in 2008 from the Minnesota State Board of Accountancy. His practice areas include tax planning and consulting, farm accounting and business and individual tax preparation. He is the co-chair of the firm’s tax committee.

Rislov is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a 2011 graduate of the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Perspectives program. He and his wife, Ann, and their three children live in Willmar.

Anthony K. Stern has been promoted to senior accountant. Stern joined CDS five years ago and has advanced rapidly with his technical and leadership skills. He is a graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is currently working on his CPA designation.

Stern’s practice areas include auditing for governmental, nonprofit and for-profit organizations. He also does extensive work on tax preparation, compilations and reviews. He is currently enrolled in the 2013-2014 Leadership Perspectives class through the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. Stern and his wife, Brittany, and their daughter live in Willmar.

Jean M. Geselius has been promoted to director of marketing. She joined CDS in 2008, bringing more than 15 years of strategic marketing, branding and graphic design experience. She is a graduate of the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in advertising/public relations.

As director of marketing, Geselius will oversee the firm’s strategic marketing, public relations, social media and website, as well as several aspects of internal communications. She will also lead the marketing efforts for their affiliated companies: CDS Administrative Services and CDS Financial Services. Geselius and her husband, Todd, and their youngest son live in Willmar.
