Cosgrove, Lee tapped to direct Gophers' defense
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Minnesota has named Kevin Cosgrove and Ronnie Lee as co-defensive coordinators to replace the departed Ted Roof.
The move is a promotion for Lee, who coached the defensive backs the past two seasons.
"Ronnie Lee has done a tremendous job since joining our staff here at Minnesota," Brewster added. "I'm very pleased to reward him with this promotion. Ronnie has proven himself to be an excellent coach and recruiter. I look forward to him having an expanded role on our defensive staff."
Cosgrove spent four years as Nebraska's defensive coordinator before spending last season out of college football. Before that, he spent 14 seasons at Wisconsin, including serving as defensive coordinator from 1995 through 2003.
"Coach Cosgrove brings a wealth of experience in the Big Ten as both a coach and recruiter," saiod Brewters. "Plus, he possesses a long track record of developing outstanding defenses."
Under Roof, the Gophers improved dramatically on defense. He left after just one season to take the defensive coordinator job at Auburn.
