Cosmos' Lewis breaks youth world record for bench press

Brennan Lewis, 12, of Cosmos broke the world record in his weight division in the bench press Saturday at the WABDL Midwest Regional Championships in Minneapolis.

Lewis, competing in the 148-pound weight class, opened with a lift of 201.5 pounds to set a new world record. He broke his own mark later with a lift of 214.7 pounds.

The previous record was 199.3 set in 2006 by a Florida youth.
