The story published on Wctrib.com Monday concerning an accident Sunday that caused the death of Lester A. Schultz, 79 of Cosmos contained an incorrect accident time. The time of accident at the intersection of Renville County Roads 5 and 4 was about 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
OLIVIA -- A Cosmos man was pronounced dead late Sunday night at the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Renville County Roads 5 and 4, which is located approximately six miles south of Bird Island.
According to Renville County Sheriff Scott Hable, responding officers determined that Lester A. Schultz, 79, of Cosmos, was driving a 1993 Pontiac that collided with a 2002 Dodge driven by Beverly J. Roback, 63, of New Brighton.
Both Roback and her passenger, Leslie W. Shore, 88, from Minneapolis, were transported by ambulance to the Renville County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The crash was reported around 11:45 a.m. Sunday and is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, with assistance being provided by the Minnesota State Patrol. Agencies responding to the scene included the Renville County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Olivia Ambulance Service, Bird Island Fire/Rescue and Bird Island First Responders.
