County board meets Tuesday morning

WILLMAR — The Kandiyohi County Commissioners will meet with two recently elected legislators when they hold their regular meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Sen. Lyle Koenen of Clara City and Representative-elect Mary Sawatzky of Willmar will meet with the commissioners to hear about county issues and to discuss the upcoming legislative session.
Other issues on the agenda include implementing the phase I county restructuring plan, approval of the household hazardous waste contract, amending a lease with the state and action on an intersection conflict warning agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Prior to the regular meeting the Commissioners will meet as the family services board at 9 a.m. Items on that agenda include contracts with the workforce center and Woodland Centers.
At 6 p.m., the commission will hold its truth in taxation hearing where residents can discuss the proposed 2013 county budget of $58.2 million and the proposed $28.6 million levy, which is a 1.89 percent increase over the previous year’s levy.
All the meetings take place in the Commissioner’s board room located on the second floor of the Health and Human Services Building at 2200 23 St NW in Willmar.
