Craten 'Bud' Knisley Feb. 10, 1927 - March 5, 2009

OLIVIA -- Craten "Bud" Knisley, 82, of Olivia, died Thursday at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Olivia to Albert and Mary (Malecek) Knisley. He attended school in Olivia and then worked for local farmers. He served in the Army during World War II and, upon his discharge, returned to Olivia.

He married Beradine Suess on May 29, 1947, in Leavenworth. They lived in Olivia where he was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the American Legion. He worked for many years with Northland Beverage Company of Hutchinson.

He is survived by his children: Jeff (and Shirley) Knisley of Banner, Wyo., Mark (and Janet) Knisley of Cortez, Colo., Micheal Knisley of Gering, Neb., Phyllis Moudry (and fiancé Bill Olson) of Olivia and Susan (and Brad) Klinghagen of Olivia; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one sister: Blanche Serbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife; son-in-law: John Moudry; two sisters; and five brothers.
