Cross Country Roundup: Willmar boys, girls both 1st at Rocori Invite

COLD SPRING — Willmar won both ends of the Rocori Invitational on Thursday and 5 of 6 races counting JV and middle school.

Tom Seifert won the boys 5k in 16:44 by 10 seconds. Samantha Hanson took second in the girls 4k race, finishing behind Bethany Hasz of Alexandria.

The Willmar girls put six girls in the top 11 to easily submerge runner-up Alexandria 32-61. The boys won by four points over Alexandria. Nadir Yusuf was fourth and Sam Anez sixth.

Jessa Hanson (5th), Sophia Schmitz (7th), Kayla Rudie (8th) and Savannah Anez (10th) finished out the girls counting five.

Glencoe-Silver Lake Invite

Both the Litchfield boys and girls placed second among six complete teams in each varsity race Thursday.

The girls were one point back of first-place Norwood Young America. GSL Panthers won in boys with 26 points to 66 for runner-up Litchfield.

Ali McGraw placed third and Caleb Kragenbring fourth for the Dragons.
