Curtis H. Wegner Aug. 28, 1929 - Feb. 29, 2008
PAYNESVILLE -- Curtis Herman Edward Wegner, 78, of Paynesville died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.
The service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in rural Paynesville.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues Tuesday, one hour before the service at the church.
He was born Aug. 28, 1929, to Arnie and Esther (Goltz) Wegner on the family farm in Zion Township, Stearns County. He married Carol Krause on Dec. 30, 1950. They lived on the family farm.
He served on the Cenex board of directors for many years and as state livestock advisory board treasurer. He was a longtime member of Salem Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and held many leadership positions, continuing to serve on the Salem Church Cemetery Association and restoration committee after the church closed. He also was on the District 2028 School Board, a past president of the Paynesville Lions Club, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Paynesville, and an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and men's chorus.
He is survived by his wife; children: Vicki (and Vincent) Jenniges of Paynesville, Jean Liestman of Litchfield, Laurie (and John) Magnan of Paynesville, Timothy (and Sheri) Wegner of Paynesville, and Lance (and Melanie) Wegner of Chanhassen; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother.
