MARSHALL -- Dawson-Boyd held off a strong second-half surge from Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg to advance in the Section 3A-North boys basketball playoffs 76-72 Saturday at Southwest Minnesota State.

The No. 5-seeded Blackjacks (15-11), who will play No. 1 Ortonville at 6 p.m. Thursday in Marshall, held a 38-27 halftime lead.

The Fighting Saints (17-8) came back with 45 points in the last 20 minutes, but Dawson-Boyd got the same offensive output in the second half -- 38 points -- as they did in the first.

Matt Anderson scored 20 points to lead four Blackjacks in double figures. Andrew Roiger turned in a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds, Colin Bergeson contributed 14 points and Kruiz Lindblad had 10.

Joey Bauman tallied 18 points to lead KMS. Taylor Freetly followed with 15 and Cole Berget had 13.
