Dakotah Johnson Jan. 30, 1993 - July 4, 2013
WILLMAR - Dakotah Johnson, age 20 of Willmar, died on Thursday July 4, 2013 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Tuesday July 9, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Cloverleaf Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
Dakotah William Wayne Johnson was born on January 30, 1993, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Barbara Johnson and Jody Chmelar . Dakotah was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrom at the age of two. Despite his illness, he was very brave and through out strived to live a normal life. He grew up in Willmar and attended Willmar Public Schools. Dakotah was very artistic and was always drawing. He loved to fish, listen to music, skateboard, play basketball and most of all spend time with his friends. He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Willmar where he attended Sunday School and youth activities.
At the age of 15 he received a kidney transplant from a family friend. He continued to live in Willmar where he received care and support from his mother and family when needed.
Dakotah is survived by his mother Barb Johnson of Willmar; father Jody Chmelar and Nena Swan of Echo, siblings: Eric (and Crystal) Holt of Lake Lillian, Maddison Kerkhoff of Danube, Devon Bain of Rice Lake, WI; maternal grandmother Maryeva Bruns of Willmar; paternal grandparents John and Donna Chmelar of Echo. Dakotah is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather Bruce Johnson; step-grandfather Donald Bruns; aunts: Lori Lambert, Kelly Boehmer and uncle Pete Chmelar.
