A wind chill advisory has been issued beginning at midnight and lasting through noon Friday for wind chills of 25 below to 35 below zero, with isolated readings near 40 below zero possible at times. By tonight, the Weather Service says subzero temperatures and brisk northwest winds will combine to create wind chill values of 25 below to 35 below zero across much of Minnesota.

Exposed skin will risk frost bite, and that could lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Limit time outdoors and make sure to wear a hat and gloves.

A secondary blast of cold air will stream down Thursday, and the dangerous wind chill values of 25 below to 35 below zero will continue.

Warmer temperatures and lighter winds will return by Friday afternoon.
