Darrell Schueler Dec. 24, 1936 - Aug. 28, 2013
NORTHFIELD - Darrell Dean Schueler was born December 24, 1936, on the family farm at Raymond, Minnesota, to Erick and Evelyn (Swenson) Schueler. He was baptized and confirm at St. Johns Lutheran Church and attended country school and Raymond Public Schools. Following graduation in 1955, he attended trade school in Minneapolis. On December 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carol Lang at United Presbyterian Church in Worthington. After marriage they lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they both worked for Capital Airlines. In 1958, they moved to Minneapolis and in 1960 to Cottage Grove. Darrell remained with Capital through their merger with United Airlines in 1960. In 1969, they moved to Webster Township where they bought their farm. Along with working for United, Darrell also farmed. He retired from United in 1995 as Operations Controller and continue farming until his death.
Darrell was a longtime member of Solor Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming and was a skilled woodworker. He was honest, dedicated, had a strong work ethic, and was well liked and respected by those he worked with.
Survived by his wife of 56 years Carol; 3 sons and their wives: Kirby & Juanita of Lonsdale, Bryan & Bonnie of Eagan, Ken & Beth of Zumbrota, 7 grandchildren: Alicia (Jerry Snider), Erick (Bethany), Heather, Katherine, Kelly, Laura, Anna; 5 great-grandchildren: Natalie, Michael, Bradyn, Riley, Addysen; his brother Douglas (Margie) of Columbia, South Carolina, and his niece Chloe (Anthony Jaco) and their children Delsin and Colette; other relatives and friends.
Darrell passed away unexpectedly with his wife by his side on Wednesday afternoon, August 28, 2013, in Northfield, at the age of 76.
Funeral services will be 11AM Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Solor Lutheran Church in Webster with Rev. Eric Westlake officiating. Music will be provided by Sara Newberg and Kathy Reck. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kirby, Bryan and Ken Schueler, Jerry Snider, Erick Schueler and Scotty Fogle. Visitation will be 4-7PM Friday, August 30, 2013, at Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral.
