Dassel man dead, shot self after short pursuit Saturday

HUTCHINSON -- A 20-year-old Dassel man was found dead, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, after a short pursuit involving Hutchinson Police and the Meeker County Sheriff's office.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called to assist the Hutchinson Police around 11 p.m. Saturday by attempting a traffic stop near the intersection of County Road 34 and State Highway 24, Litchfield, of a suspect in a domestic assault that happened in Hutchinson.

The suspect didn't stop and a 1½-mile pursuit ended on County Road 34 when the vehicle entered the ditch. The officers approached the vehicle and found Erik Horrmann dead.

The Meeker County Coroner was then dispatched to the scene.
