David "Dave" Paul Ceske, son of Joseph and Fannie (Smith) Ceske, was born September 22, 1927 in DeGraff, MN. At six months of age the family moved to the farm where he grew up and later farmed. He was baptized and confirmed in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock.
Dave attended school at district 10 country school and graduated 8th grade. On August 24, 1957 he was united in marriage to Violet (Strootman) at St. Bridgets Church in DeGraff. The couple lived in Willmar for 4 years and he considered himself a "suitcase farmer" until 1962 when they moved to their own farm in DeGraff. They were blessed with two daughters, Debra and Barbara. They celebrated 55 years together.
Besides farming all of his life, Dave also had a small construction business of building grain bins over the summer. He was able to have this business until his health began to fail, but he continued farming until he retired in 1989.
Dave enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, other family and friends. Dave had a sense of humor and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He liked to hunt, fish, play cards and read. He also liked to travel. Dave could get in the car and drive for miles.
The couple moved back to Willmar four years ago taking many trips back to see the farm.
He was a member of St. Mary's church and a member of the Senior Citizens Club.
Dave is survived by his wife, Violet; his two daughters: Debra (Allen) Floren of Willmar, Barbara (Leland) Floren of Willmar; grandchildren: Sarah Floren, Tyler Floren, Emily Floren; sister, Florence Grendahl of Willmar; and many other relatives and friends.
