Dayton orders flags at half-staff Wednesday for 'Gary Kubly Day'
ST. PAUL -- Gov. Mark Dayton has proclaimed Wednesday as "Gary Kubly Day" in Minnesota in honor and remembrance of the late state senator.
Dayton ordered all U.S. flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in Minnesota, from sunrise until sunset Wednesday.
The funeral for Kubly, who died Friday, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Granite Falls. Dayton and Minnesota legislators are scheduled to attend the funeral.
Kubly's legislative career included six years in the Minnesota House and 10 years in the Minnesota Senate. During his tenure, Kubly was an advocate for agriculture and rural Minnesota.
