Dean Shaw Dec. 16, 1928 - Jan. 25, 2009
GRANITE FALLS -- Dean Arthur Shaw, 80, of Clarkfield died Sunday at Westwood Elderly Care in Granite Falls from Alzheimer's disease.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Montevideo. Spring burial will be in Clarkfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will for a half hour before the service at the church. Arrangements are by Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield. Memorials preferred to the Masonic Lodge, the United Methodist Church of Montevideo or the Clarkfield Emergency Services.
He was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to John and Vivian (Errett) Shaw. He attended four grade schools and three high schools before graduating from high school in Ida Grove, Iowa.
He married Bonnie Mae Lancaster on June 26, 1949, in Ida Grove, Iowa. He worked for JC Penney stores in Denison, Iowa, Fairmont and Madison, Wis.; was a toy buyer at Variety Supply in Clara City; salesman for Lilly Mills and Josephs Plastics in the Dakotas and Montana; Standard Oil bulk agent in Clarkfield and drove transport for Western Co-op Oil in Montevideo for 21 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge and United Methodist Church in Montevideo.
He is survived by his wife; children: Terri (and Jon) Thostenson of Hanley Falls, Scott (and Trudy) Shaw of Rochester, Pamela Shaw of Lakeville, and Gail (and Tim) Ruzicka of Watertown; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother: John (and Pat) Shaw of Algona, Iowa, and one sister: Vicky (and Bill) Robison of Livermore, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his son: Michael Shaw in 1999; and one granddaughter.
